Just how long would a 9600xt last anyway?

In terms of games, I mean. The max would be about 2 years, right?

That's just a guess though as I've heard that there are few games which fully take advantage of Directx 9.

Thanks for reading! :)

2-3 years sounds about right. Keep in mind, new catalyst drivers can improve performance as well.

Okay, well, with that said, I'm probably going to head downtown to get the card tommorrow(provided I can finish my school work, that is)! :D

Thanks for the reply! :)

Whoa, wait a minute. How much are you going to be paying for that board? If it's over $150 there are better alternatives to be had.

Errrr let me get the currency convertor. It's about US$130++ atm.

The 9800 XT cards are about US$300++ to US$500++ right now, completely way out of my price range.

Oh and I live in Singapore, btw. :p

Edit: And I'm currently looking at this pricelist which is quite up-to-date.

At $130 it looks like a good deal.

How much do the 9800Pro and non Pro go for(or was the $300-$500 for all of the 9800 family)?

The 9800 non-pro(SE, etc.) versions(I'm looking at all the brands that they have like ATI, Hercules, etc.) are about US$280++ to US$300++

The priciest one(the 9800 pro by Sapphire) hits a whooping amount of US$550++. The rest are somewhere between US$300++ to US$500++.

One thing for sure, if I want to get a card like that, I'd probably have to wait up to half a year.

Yes I was thinking of the same thing too. The rest are too pricey, and I am not sure about the Nvidia cards either(there's a huge divide on which one is good: Ati or nvidia but I'd prefer that argument be kept out of this thread, thx!).

Looks like the 9600XT is a killer deal for you. Here in the states there is only about a 20% difference in price between the 9600XT and 9800Pro which makes the Pro a no brainer, but for the prices you are looking at the 9600XT certainly looks like the best way for you to go.
