A big bag of salt in the trunk is a great way to rot out your trunk

Why is it so bad? Is it just the weigh ratio? I'm planning on getting a G35 coupe, which is pretty well balanced.. about 54%/46% front to rear.
In a FWD car, the engine sits pretty much right over the drive wheels. A Porsche 911 or a VW Bug, though RWD are also very good in the snow beause they are rear-engined.

ummm no we have a 911 and it fing horrid in the snow, hell even in the rain its easy as hell to spin the rear tires, the power to weight ratio is too great
Don't know about a 911 but the older VW Bugs were awesome in the snow. Sometimes you had probs keeping the people in the car warm, but was a great snow car surprisingly.

Could a 911 and a old VW bug have ANYTHING in common?

Yes they do, but I bet the tires aren't one of things. Doubt you'll see too many 911's with snow tires, but they'd go just fine if they had them.Originally posted by: RedBeard
