Here's my problem...

MSI K8N Neo2 motherboard w/AMD FX-53 cpu.

These are all idle temperatures...

Bios temperatures read, 55'C CPU / 30'C Mobo
MBM5 reads, 42'C CPU / 11'C Mobo
MSI Corecenter reads, 47'C CPU / 10'C Mobo

Under load....

MBM5 reads up to 65'C CPU / 12'C Mobo
MSI Corecenter reads up to 71'C / 11'C Mobo

There's a good 5'C+ on corecenter at all times.

I have an XP-120 installed in a Lian-Li V1000.

Which one of these temperatures is correct and how is it possible that the motherboard can be 10'C-12'C, while the CPU gets all the way up to 65'C - 70'C ???? I can run 3dmark03 no problems, I can run sisoft no problems, prime95 errors before the first test is even over...

MSI K8N Neo2
2x512MB OCZ PC3700EB
AMD FX-53
PCP&C Turbo-Cool 510

I'm trying to confirm/deny that the bios is actually reporting temps incorrectly. Monday the fedex man is bringing me a Zalman 7000, so we'll see if that helps, but I don't know why the XP-120 isn't "enough".

It can be no more accurate than your hardware monitor chip is. All the software does is read some values that are placed at a certain set of port addresses by the hardware monitor chip, convert to human readable form and displays them for you. Wherever possible, measure the values directly with a Digital Volt Meter and/or a Digital thermometer and compare with what the health monitor software is showing and you will know any error that might be present in the chip.
. AFAIK, there is no further development being done on MBM, so any errors in conversion are there to stay and no new hardware monitor chips will be supported. So perhaps it will be best to stick with your mobo mfr's utiliity unless you know it is a piece of crap.
