I couldn't believe that was one of the question on the application...

I put Conroe Core 2 Duo QFT on the paper...

i'm sure they'll be getting a kick out of it..

BTW, it was not meant to be an insult to the OP as much as a comment about a stupid question for an interview. Unless it's for one of the two companies what difference would it make?

Maybe it's a tech position and they need to know which he prefers because they've based their infrastructure on one and need to know if he can work with that one.

Well if it is a server farm that he will be working on I am sure they are something like 78% intel 8% AMD and 14% SUN. AMD is slowly overflowing into the server market.

it was a cto position, w/o knowing am2 performance or have physical evidence, as of today, look at all the reviews, conroe core 2 duo is better...

i already got a job offer to leave my existing cto position, but im just interviewing to see if i can get more else where..

it wasn't even a question i had to answer, its a packet and there was a tech section... so i figure ill just answer the amd vs intel on that..

i should write, Conroe, get your flame suit on

Preference shouldn't matter, he should be able to work on them all.

It really doesn't matter which one, they're both x86 compatible... running windows with a sql db on top or clustering, both will work.. pc are pc.. some are faster, some are slow.. just how much you're willing to squeeze the wallet for the best bang....

just fyi, they order a compaq cluster in a box, using dual xeon 3.8.. i was like, no, that's the biggest mistake.. for today, pre-conroe/woodcrest.. I would definitely use AMD.. the old xeon are too slow.. it was a 60k cluster in a box.. big waste
