Bottom two were impacted and very deep. Dentist said it was one of the deepest he's seen and it sort of looked like he was having trouble. Suffice to say, all four were removed painlessly with local anesthetics and I would say he did a great job extracting them. The most painful part was probably injection of the anesthetics. I'm bleeding like a mad man right now but I guess that's expected... here's to hoping a proper blood clot forms and I don't get f'd over with a dry socket.
I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket under my parent's insurance plan.
edit:
It has now been 5 days since my wisdom teeth extraction. The strange numbness feeling on the bottom right side of my cheek, jaw/gum line and right edge of my tongue has persisted. It's hard to describe the feeling, but it's not a burning sensation like paresthesia nor is it numb to the point where I can't feel anything.
During the procedure, I can't remember if it was during the re-injection of the local to the right side (he extracted the left side first), or during the drilling of the bottom right tooth, but I remember a sharp tingling on the right side of my tongue, almost as if the nerves just started firing off. I had a feeling then and there he hit a lingual nerve.
Anyway this feeling, though not painful, totally sucks. I've done lots of research online and came across a small number of successful recoveries, but the bulk of it turned out inconclusive with people suffering from lingual nerve damage saying they've still not recovered after years. I guess it's just one of the risks you have to deal with when being operated on and I'm kinda grateful the numbness is only on the right side of my mouth.
