Just had a d/l speed of 258K a Sec at work tho Just wondering what speeds you guys get? I average about 100k here normally...

most ive seen for me was 960k a sec. usually get about 200-300k a sec on average. Night time the numbers go up more...

I love my DSL. Cable users can love their download speeds all they want but my line has a steady, steady up and down stream that not all cable companies can provide Granted, services vary from area to area, but DSL owns everything in my town.

I've hit 350k/s for about 10 seconds off of NBCi's Sharehouse on my 768k DSL. Don't know how accurate that reading was though. Most of the time im ~85.

Ive never had any problems with my cable modem fluctuating speeds. Im in an area with lots of cable modems also. Plus the fact that I pay only 30 bucks for both the internet access and the modem, makes it that much better for me than going out paying 100 bucks plus for a 1.5meg dsl.

I sucked down a 42MB file in about 56 secs. once w/ my cable modem. I love my cable modem.

usually around 200-350kb/s, except for the fast sites, like berkeley.edu or stanford.edu, which are not only fat ass fiber lines but so close, i manage 1MB/s from 'em (well cheating with Download Accelerator )

my dsl does 100-150kbs normally, but the fastest download I've had is a 4mb mp3 in 1 second, is that possible? It happened twice.

I'm on your basic 56k here at home. It sucks.

At school I could get a max of about 300k/sec over internet. And the best I ever saw across the network was about 8.5 megs/sec. I'm told it could get up to about 11 meg/sec, but I never saw quite that fast.

What?? Two firewalls?? Hmm... strange. One software and one hardware? Interesting -I've never heard of that.

Anyway, yeah, I get all of <1k/sec all the way up to 4k/sec on my dialup.

I have a screenshot around here somewhere of the MSN download speed tester thing from when I was working at Intel. I had surfing speed of 8000KB (bytes) and a download of 1000KB on the download. --don't ask me, I just worked there (and started downloading music because of it... )
