Just Graduated...bye bye email... need to find a good free one

I just graduated from UMD and my school email account is going by the wayside. It's been very good to me. However, I need to find a good free email service. Minimal spam is a plus and speed is also good.

I'm looking at hushmail, netscape, and hotmail right now.

Any other ideas?

Opinions are very welcome.

Check out Email.com. I have had them for a couple of months and its been great. No spam so far. I dont think hotmail is allowed here.

If you can afford $29 you can own your own domain, receive 50 e-mail boxes, 80MB of website storage AND your own website hosting (for a year) from namecheap.com for the domain registration and www.dixiesys.com for the e-mail/hosting.

Hotmail sux... junk out the wazoo. Yes, there's a filter, but it gets about 5% of the stuff.

I'm using Juno (through the web). Their ads suck too, but I used a trick... 3 weeks so far, 0 junk mails. Let me know if you want the details.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but some of the free isp's/email address hosts are banned like hotmail. I remember trying to sign up with hotmail a while back, and couldnt. Unless things have changed, you cant use hotmail. You're better off with yahoo's email or email.com, I have yet to get any spam. I only get like 1 spam a week on yahoo, and that is career related and gets routed to the junk email folder automatically.

my mail.utexas.edu account is still up and running
i've got lebold.org up
and then theres forsaken-souls.com

just register a domain and get some email hosting. make sure you renew your domain so some bot at a websquatting company doesn't snatch it up when it expires.

My wife uses Netscape Mail. It has been great - SPAM free. I'm impressed with how clean her mailbox is - unlike the account with my ISP and my Hotmail account, which gets 10 and 30 SPAM messages daily, respectively.

I'm really aiming for the free thing...I don't believe in paying for email when there are so many free ones out there. Not a good investment if you ask me.

Hehe I'm glad you put the :Q;) at the end of your post but it still got his panties into a bind.

Pretty funny though.

I also need some new email adressess... I checked them and it appears they're not POP3-based email! It means I can't recieve mail using the MS Outlook. Does anyone know of some free POP3-based email services? I don't care for a lot for spam, I got used to it.
