i have extended my 2month free trial 3 times and gotten a free game just by calling msft 🙂

I purchased-- no, scratch that, acquired my XBox initially for the sole purpose of having a truly capable media center. Then I discovered that some of the games it has aren't half bad. (Plus, knowing that I got it for "free" makes me feel a bit better about the whole "selling out to M$" factor) But I'm not going to disassemble my carefully constructed media center just to be able to play them online. Nor am I particularly in the mood to pay any amount of money on a regular basis just to play online. (besides my DSL bill) It's why I've never played Evercrack, FFXII or any subscription-based game. Free is good enough for me. Especially when I can put the money towards a more noble use, like hookers and nose candy.

even if it is 50$ a year to play online(live), as opposed to playing on xbc or with real free friends.
that's still just another 50$ that gets yoinked from your pocket by some lame justification.
sometimes it feels good just knowing you're not always conned into being a consumer.
 
Just to play Devil's Advocate, I should point out that I am primarily a PC Gamer, not a Console Gamer. Were Halo 2 the sole devotion of my life -- as Tribes was and occasionally still is -- then I might very well have purchased a second XBox just to play Halo 2 with all my Live buddies. 😛

Though he's gotten bigger. Way bigger. He's already up to 13lbs and he hasn't even hit his main growth spurt. He isn't fat either, just big. The cat is going to be huge.
