problem 1:
just got a WTR54G (latest linksys firmware). Wired connection fine for upload/download
2680/688 . Wireless 989/686. Signals are fine; speed was set to 54g then 48g; firmware
upgraded; MTU was set to auto then 1492; channel:11; security: wpa personal + Tkip; mode set to mixed then G, but still get around 989 down for wireless. What I am I doing wrong? Wireless adapter:laptop built in atheros 5005G

problem 2:
getting wpa2+aes to work. This card supports it and uptodate drivers are installed.

update: what i tried so far:
1. tried beacon interval between 55-300(any thing 0ut of that
range it won't show up in "view available networks")

2. tried channel 1- 11; 4 and 10 gives about 200kbits better
performance.

3. unplugged all cordless phones

4. oriented antennas to different positions

maximum transfer on dslreports: 1197/686

was fooling around with atheros statistics gotTHIS
is that a high number of crc errors? if so what can be causing it?

It looks like you have a lot of noise.

You've tried channels 1, 6 and 11 with no improvement? Do you have other wireless networks in your area?

Also with all the mucking around with settings you should probably reset it to default and start again.

yes there are 4 other networks besides mine ,that my comouter detects. there are all open
have no idea what channel they are. How does one get rid of noise?

is that I problem with wireless access points/ routers? it seems like mine won't start working with new security settings unless I turn it off completely (even tho it says it can rebott itself after taking new settings)
