Anyone here know anyone that has had this or had it themselves? I'm going to do some research on it right now but would like some input.

TIA.

ive had both at the same time. its really shittie and you feel like you are dying.

i lived on nothing but drugs for like 3 weeks. not much else you can do. just tell her to stay in bed.

I'm still recovering. It's been over a month, and I had a "mild" case. She needs to really listen to the doctor so that it doesn't linger on. Any way you slice it, it's a 6-8 week deal. The difference is whether you are bed-ridden/hospitalized, or walking and working like me.

PM me if you have questions...

yea shes gonna feel like she got hit by a bus for like 2-3 weeks, once shes on meds she will start getting better but it takes time and rest

Ouch, that sucks. You'd better baby her for awhile. Could be worse, though. She could have pleurisy.

Come on, pleurisy patients are the best, draining fluid is fun.

😉

I've been told that the pain from pleurisy is exquisite.

I just picked up her last round of antibiotics last night. She's scared to use her inhaler. I guess today we're going to take it easy and just stay home. Don't want this to go on till Xmas. Should she get a Doctor's note and not work for awhile to get more rest?

Bedrest MuffD....lots and lots of bedrest. have her park her butt on the couch or in bed and don't let her do too much. I got pneumonia so bad once that I could barely breathe...felt like someone was sticking a knife in my side. I'm a bit different than most folks so I had to be hospitalized but yikes it sucks when you can't breathe.

I had an upper respiratory infection that developed into bronchitis since I didn't get it looked at early enough. I had that damn bronchitis all effing summer, and had to have an inhaler. Sucky times when playing soccer, lemme tell ya....which I s'pose I shouldn't have been doing anyway. If you haven't been battling this for a few weeks with meds already, then I would think it's an almost guarantee that she'll be battling it up to and through Xmas and New Years.....if it's anything like my infection was.

The treatment for pneumonia depends on the patient's condition.

If she's young and healthy withOUT other chronic disease, then she should tolerate the pneumonia quite well.

* Finish all antibiotics as directed by your physician.
* Just take it easy for a few days. No need for bed rest. Actually, pure bed rest may make the condition worse. You'd want the patient to be up and walking around every few hours at the least just to keep the airflow going. (Prolonged bedrest may cause blood clots as well)
* Inhalers may be helpful.
* If condition worsens and fever persists, IV antibiotics may be needed (hospitalization)

DISCLAIMER: Just some discussion here. DO NOT TAKE THE ABOVE FOR MEDICAL ADVICE. Always consult your physician (Gotta cover my ass 🙂

I was given Advair to try last spring when a respiratory infection was making my asthma flare up. I liked it better than albuterol inhalers, doesn't make my heart race. I seem to remember it was the same active ingredient as Flonase nasal spray, another top-notch product for opening up the airway.

Those of you that have had this, can you also post what medication or inhalers were used?

Thanks

Beats the hell outta me. Some antibiotics, lotsa rest and some inhaler.....this was 6 years ago so I can't remember scheit.

i had bronchitis...did not feel wellat all...but felt like my lungs were gonna collapse or something...lot of flem. but after a week or 2 I was feeling better...just have to rest up! and eat healthy.

hope youre wife gets bettersoon!

A girl at my school had the same thing. We all thought she either moved or was dying or something. Hope your wife feels better soon. 🙂

I had the two and it was not pretty. I was young and in the hospital recovering from brain surgery.

I was blue for two days. No one thought I would make it. Hope your wife was well other than those two conditions.
