Just got Verizon DSL with Modem + Wireless Router in one...

Newb to Networking+Wireless Networking...

Just got my Verizon DSL Modem + Wireless Router (in one) and I'm going to put it near my main comp. But my other comp is a room away and I don't really want to open the carpet and "staple" a long ethernet cable so I was wondering if I could use the wireless capability of the router.

Both my comps have 10/100 NIC Cards and I will wire the main one. What would I need for the other? A Wireless PCI USB Adapter? Such as this? http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=33-130-109&depa=0

Any help is appreciated...

That card looks decent. I'm tempted to lean away from it because it's a lesser known brand, and for being 802.11g compatible, it only supports WEP.

Personally I would look at something like this.

PCI and USB are not the same. 🙂 USB looks like a small rectangular plug on the back of the computer, and PCI buses are large white rectangles with a slot on your motherboard. They are incompatible with each other.

But yes, you do need a wireless adapter.

i know what PCI and USB is. When I was looking at the adapters, i saw both usb and pci thats why i mentioned both.

alright. thanks.
