Can anyone help me out?
I just got a Duron 750 and a Asus A7v and I'm trying to overclock it. Can anyone tell me what to change like the settings on the motherboard and what settings do you have? I tried changing it in the Bios but I'm only getting to 850 Mhz max with CPU Freq=113 CPU Vcore=1.85 (max). Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong. I appreciate your help.

With current AMD processors, in order to get a good overclock, you're far better off changing the multiplier of the chip, rather than the FSB ('frequency'). The chances are that your Duron will be muliplyer locked, but fear not! You can unlock it fairly easily with a graphite pencil or something similar.

Take a look at Anand's recent Duron overclocking guide for more info. This should help you on your way, but obviously don't hesitate to come back and post here if you need more help.

Good luck :)

You approach to OCing the Duron is incorrect. Unlike the Intel processors, the AMDs can be easily unlocked. This allows the CPU to be OCed by changing the multiplier.

As mentioned above, you need to take off your heat sink, and connect the 4 L1 bridges on the top of your CPU with pencil (or preferably something more conductive).

After you remount your CPU, then you can adjust the DIP switched on your A7V to up the multiplier to 8.5, 9, 9.5, etc and see how far you can go. The 1.85v should be fine if you have a good HSF. Just make sure that the temp is OK.

After you hit the wall with the multiplier, then you can start adjusting the FSB to get the last bit of speed out. Since you say that you got some ridiculous FSB like 113, you may even consider downing to multiplier one notch and then upping the PSB from there.

Good luck.
