now ive never had trouble doing this before and ive got my other computers connected with no hitch

but i just got this HP laptop and i cant connect to my home network. ive got the internet connection linked up no problem, but when i try to connect to my workgroup and see my other computers its saying i dont have "permission" to access my WG

whats up with that? i mean i just started over with my upstairs computer and in two seconds i could see my other network computers

from my PCs i can see the laptop on the workgroup, but even though the sharing settings are open i cant access the laptop

from the laptop its saying i have no permission to see the workgroup

help?

also, its saying i dont have permission to turn off norton ****** and other stuff that came on windows thanks to hp - whats the workaround?

keep in mind that all my home PCs are connected to the network no problem, its JUST the laptop that seems to be not letting anyone in or out

The default password for Norton *used* to be Symantec, see if you can turn off at least the firewall. Check the windows firewall, too.

tried it without internet connected and it worked (connected to the workgroup window) so like in the other thread ive established its not a problem with the other computers and definately with this computers settings somewhere

tried with no symantec and same results..
