Just got the Tonika 11-16mm lens, going to review tonight or tomorrow!

I am so excited! Nikon mount, I only have a D50 right now 🙁

UPDATE: I took about 100 photos with it at a sporting event (USC) Gonna upload a bunch of photos for you all to look at

Unedited JPEGs:

Nice, looking forward to the pictures.

And from all reviews so far, the Tokina 11-16 is a better lens than the Sigma 10-20...which is to be expected, since it costs more and covers a smaller range.

Please give it a thorough evaluation (i.e. f=11mm, 13mm, 16mm; and f/2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16 and 22); I'm seriously considering that exact lens for Nikon mount as my next lens purchase because I don't have a decent-quality wideangle. I even still have my D50.

Tokina

lol, got a chuckle out of me too when I saw the title... 😉 It must be a Ninok mount 😉

When I read the OP I almost saw Tonka as in the Tonka trucks 😀

for the longest time, I would always read tokina as tonkia, and thus, tonka. It was quite frustrating, haha... until I got a 50-135 for myself, heh.

Interested to hear how it pans out. I want this lens, but like the 85, I'm not sure I'd use it much.

I really wish Tokina would put ring focusing motors in some of their lenses. It's really pretty ridiculous for a lens maker not to these days. Same goes for Tamron. Having said that, I loved my Tokina 10-17. That sucker was built like a tank and performed wonderfully.

updated.

Paid 570 or so at Adorama. But it took like 5 months to arrive!

Now I need a new body. I don't like the D50 lowlight performance.

Nice shots!!! Never be ashamed of an older camera. It's not like it's quality gets worse when newer comes out. Although, sometimes that it feels that way.

Fuzzy, Dances with Wolves. Not Gone with Wind.
Although it is two titles with three words sharing "with" in the middle.

Damn that thing is sharp!

seems a little soft compared to some of the other samples I've seen from this lens.

Maybe that is due to the OP's camera settings? Sometimes Nikon DSLRs can look a little soft unless the image sharpening is set to +1. I know that's the case with my D200.

I tend to agree. It might just be my settings. It was also pretty dark and I have shaky hands.

those shots look fine, especially considering the circumstances. yeppers, this lens will be my next lens purchase (when I get monies for it 🙁 ).

do not be ashamed of your D50. I still have mine; it was a good camera that I took a lot of favorite photos with. buying a D90 did not innately make me a better photographer. new lenses, on the other hand, open up a whole new set of opportunities.
