Just got the RRoD

So I was playing CoD4 on xbox live and all the sudden the damn xbox just shuts off and low and behold he dreaded red lights were flashing.

I turned the xbox off and turned it back on to see what would happen and it went straight to the dashboard. I immediately turned it back off for fear of the rings coming back.

Since it loaded the dashboard when I reset it, is there a chance it's ok?
 
I've gotten the flashing red rings as well. I bought my 360 the day Halo 3 was released, so it's still only a month and a half old. I was able to simply shut it down and then eject the Halo 3 disc then re-insert it. The 360 was a little buggy for the next 24 hours with weird stuff like the green light not turning on even though I had the 360 on and was playing Halo with no problem. Also, when I would shut it off, for some reason the the light suddenly turn on (even though the console was off) and just stay like that unless I pulled the power cable out of the wall. Strange-ness.

That was a week or two ago, and that stuff only lasted a day or two. Since then it's been perfectly normal and all lights are operating correctly. 🙂

Nope. After my 2nd 360 got the RROD, occassionally I could turn it on and get to the dashboard for a few seconds before it locked up.

Just turn it back on and see what it does. What will you do otherwise, leave it off for the rest of your life in hopes that you'll never have to replace it? 😀

I turned it back on and loaded COD4... No problems. Didnt actually load a game, but the main menu worked well enough.

EDIT: Just plaued through the epilogue for about 5 minutes and was alright. I'll just count my blessings for now.
