Just got the Mobo, PSU, and Case

Hey i just got my DFI LanpartyUT Expert, Lian-Li Pc-V1000B Plus, and Antec Trupower 2.0 550W PSU. i was just wondering if it was safe to plug the psu into the motherboard without having the cpu,memory,vid card, etc. all i have are the case, psu, and mobo. i wanted to test the psu and mobo to make sure theyre working. this wouldnt mess anything up would it?
