just got the Asus P4P800E-Dx board, and have some questions

Hi,

just got this board along with a P4-2.8E, GEIL 2x256MB, Hitachi 80G Sata R9800P

and when i boot up, it scans for ide drives which i don't have. how can i disable this move? something about "Fastrack".

i want to use dual channel, so do i put the 2 sticks only on the blue or black ports?

Fastrack is probably referring to the Promise Raid chip onboard. Go into BIOS and disable the Promise RAID chip.

To use dual-channel, put the memory modules in slots A1 and A2, or B1 and B2. Page 2-2 of your manual shows the slots by name, and page 2-10 and following has more info on memory configurations. Have fun with your new rig!
