I am a newb to linux. I want to start learning how to use it though. I have had Suse installe don my main system before and didn't have any problems. After getting my new biostar SFF together, which is my new test system BTW, I installed Suse and the install went fine and thus far the OS seems to be working fine with one exception. The desktop and all image son it appear to be too large for the screen.

For instances the My Menu bar to the left of the screen while in the forums here. All I see if y Menu, the C is cut off in categories, and so on. I have the webbrowser maximized and the bar with the minimize maximize and close buttons is almost completely off the top fo the screen. The taskbar, is that what its called in linux?, is also too big for the screen it seems.

As for some info on my system, I am using a dell 1800FP, default res. of 1280x1024. I am using the onboard VGA which i think is gforce 4 MX based, but not sure.

I just don't know enough about the OS to star troubleshooting this, please any help you can provide would be great.

I had a similar problem with letters being cut off the screen in Suse, but it was simply a case of hitting the autoselect button on my TFT to square everything up on the screen.

The taskbar can be changed quite easily. If you right click on it, there's some options and one of them gives you the choice of changing the taskbar to tiny, small, medium etc etc.
I know thats a little vague, (not on my Suse box atm) but have a little poke around and you'll find what I'm on about. Its pretty straightfoward.

Well don't I feel like an idiot. I never thought of that, heck I didn't even know LCD's had auto configs buttons like that, I didn't think they needed them. But that appears to have fixed it, thanks a lot.

Oh and BTW, I like your sig, thats basically the way I taught myself what little I do know about computers and stuff. Play with it till I break it, then fix it till I break it again.
