I hate wasps. Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate...wasps.

I'd leave them alone if they left me alone, but I don't know how many times I was doing something and got stung out of the blue. It's their fault I constantly hunt down every nest around my house and destroy them.

Not quite, but sorta. I'm about 35 minutes in, the "secondary" inflammation started about 5 minutes ago, but hopefully between benedryl and ibuprofen my "beak" will calm down here soon.

Ironically that's what my dog looked like several years ago when she got stung in the face a couple times. Of course my dog was far more attractive.

Wasps can sting with their snarky comments alone. They control the rackets and the courts . . . well, in tennis, anyway.

My very earliest memory was being stung by one. I was playing in the backyard. I think I was 2 or 3 years old.

Since then I have been absolutely terrified of wasps, to the point where I will shrink away from any medium-sized flying insect until I can confirm that it is not a wasp. I've run away from large flies, bumblebees, honey bees, and even ladybugs on occasion.

And same here, I've been stung out of the blue so many times. One crawled down my shirt and followed me inside, then stung me when I leaned back in my chair. I got stung three times on the leg when I went over a hidden underground nest with a lawnmower (I was also terrified of mowing the lawn for a couple years after that), one stung me on the chest while I was biking, and I also got stung on the chest when one hid on my towel and I went to dry off after showering. I panic when I see one and it's everything I can do to not make sudden movements that might anger it. But the thing is, all of those times I was stung before was NOT the result of panicking; I never even saw it before being stung.

Be happy you didn't catch it on the tip of your nose. Been there, done that, would rather take a stinger to my balls than the tip of my nose again. Had no idea it would suck that much - worst sting ever.

lol nice pic bandit

I still inspect all the points on my mowing path where wasps normally nest before starting the mower. There's a place on the corner of the shed in my back yard where there seems to always be a wasp on sentry duty, nearly hidden in the shadow of a slightly raised shingle. My first action before mowing the back yard is to walk a safe distance away, watching the little fucker actually turn his body to track my movements, and squirt some wasp killer into the hole. The wasp falls out, and then it's safe to mow that part of the lawn.

Some people may think this is ridiculous, but last time I forgot to do that the bastard dive bombed me as I was passing under that eave and stung me in the crown of my head. There's always a new one there every time I have to mow again too. You'd think I'd get them all eventually. :\

I'm now nervous about mowing the back yard because a tree fell on the yard and a couple of the branches bored big holes into the dirt. Afraid that they've decided to build nests in there. I usually don't see wasps in the back yard, though; the gardens are all out front and at this house there are mostly honey bees anyway, not wasps.

My parents' house is the one with wasps everywhere. Of the five times I've been stung, three of them were in or around that house.
