Just got results from cholesterol and glucose tests.

My cholesterol level is 185 and my glucose is 77. It says I am within the normal range. Normal range for cholesterol it says is between 0 - 199 and for glucose is 70 - 110. Can any health experts chime in? I'm 29 male. The 185 figure is getting kinda close to the upper range of normal. If I kept my current diet, would it stay the same or would it continue to go up as I get older? Should I change my diet?

I'm not an expert, but I wouldn't worry. Cholesterol results are not a fluke, they are an almost direct reflection of your diet, and there is a reasonably big margin in that "normal" range. If you keep doing what you're doing, your cholesterol won't rise significantly until you hit 40+.

That said, it never hurts to improve your diet and lifestyle.

I'm also no health expert, but 185 seems a little high to me. Do you know your HDL/LDL ratio? My blood test a few months ago had a total cholesterol of 140.

If I were in your shoes I'd make a concerted effort to reduce cholesterol. No sense in not making an effort to keep it down as much as possible, even if you were much lower.

Don't know the HDL, I just got a printout with those 2 numbers on it. Don't have family history of heart disease. Grandpa is 95 on dad's side and 80 something on mom's side. Both still in good health. Grandma is in her 80's on my dad's side but grandma on mom's side passed away, but not from heart disease. Think it was cancer from smoking. I don't know anyone in my family that has had heart disease and I come from an extremely big family.
