What do you play Unreal Tournament in D3D or opengl. For me D3d looks great but OpenGl is too dark and not as good in quality. I probably need to work on settings but I just wanted quick opinions. Thanks.

I use D3D - it looks better and has better framerates.

Search for your UnrealTournament.ini file; you can change some D3D and OpenGL settings in there to get varying degrees of speed and quality (but remember what you changed, in case it screws something up).

Der, how can D3D look better if only MeTaL and OpenGL can use high resolution textures? Oh, you haven't tried them. 😛

Yes, I have S3TC textures (my "Game of the Year" edition came with the textures on the second disk).

The colours in OpenGL are darker, 'muddier', and have less vibrance to them. The actual textures themselves have little to do with the colour of the world. I really don't care about standing next to a wall looking at the creases and ripples. For gameplay I find that D3D looks and plays better (I have altered both the D3D and OpenGL sections in UnrealTournament.ini for best visuals with a playable framerate - most of the D3D graphics options are set to 'True').
