I sign up to a $4000 series 7 class in Washington DC because my boss wants people in our department to get some required trainings (at least once a year). I figure I can goof off for a week in DC and get free meal ($60 a day) on the company (the most important part when doing businiess travels).

The company I picked happend to have an office in Richmond too. So the guy looked them up on the net and rejected my request , telling me to take it in Richmond instead.

Richmond is about an hour and a half from DC... I will be in Richmond starting two weeks from now.

Perhaps you should focus on getting good training, instead of wasting company dollars on your own excursions?

I got enough training on the job, I think it is a waste in the first place to send us out just because it is "mandatory" per company policy that you take a week for training every year.

Actually I take that back, the policy should be "as needed" instead of mandatory. I don't mind doing a week of CISCO in 2007 when my cert. expires.

I'm in IT, so series 7 is really won't help me except maybe to my personal wealth in the future.
