Just got off the phone with Comcast...

We have the $99 per month phone\internet\cable package and I called about upgrading the TV package from Digital Starter to Digital Classic because I'm just being tempted by the abundance of HD listings on my TiVo HD's guide. According to the person I talked to, in order to upgrade I would need to drop the promotion and get the full priced Digital Classic package (and pay $66 for TV instead of $33). Does this sound right to anyone, and has anyone upgraded their package while retaining the promotional price?

Use key words like disconnect, DirecTV, Dish Network, that may work.

To be up front, the account is in my Dad's name (we have the same names and I was given permission to make minor changes to the account) and I'd rather not jeopardize getting everything disconnected, however low the risk is. If it comes down to it, I'll just tough it out until I move out in a couple months. I'm 22, working, and paying for whatever extra I put onto the bill each month, but $33 is just insane for a few more channels just to downgrade it when I leave in November.

If you say that you're unhappy with the price increase and might consider getting satellite instead, they'll definitely listen up. They can't "disconnect you" for saying that. Anyway, if you're tactful, I'm sure they'll offer you something better for at least a year or sixth months. I know lots of people who get a better price out of them all the time.

Yeah just be like Direct TV is offering way more HD Channels (which is true I believe)

About 10 mentions of Verizon got me a better deal with Time Warner .
