just got new motherboard have a question?

My MSI nforce 2 just came today an upgrade to my kt333 board , i was wondering it i need to clean if the heat sink and add new heat sink paste of could i just transfer

it over as is , i dont have any heat sink paste so if i need it whats the best?

I would save yes clean of the old and install some new stuff, now as far as the brand goes last time I check it was artic silver, but now if your patinece are short and you dont feel like waiting on this, if you cant get it local I would still clean it off and apply some generic stuff like the radio shack brand.

I agree,

cleaning off the old stuff is a very good idea.

If you can't find Arctic Silver III or don't want to wait, most computer stores (compusa, BB, etc. ) will have
a silver compound of some type.

do i clean it off the just the heat sink or the heat sink and the chip? what should i use rubbing alcochol?

clean it off of both definately, i usually wipe it down lightly to get most residue off then use rubbing alcohol to get it nice and squeeky clean.

If you will just click on this link, you will get a very good toutorial.... I really am not trying to be insulting in any way
but no one should do it for their first time without this kind of help!
