Thats an 'A' core. What combo was this one? I wanted to snatch the 1800+ Boxed/ ECS (good odds of a DLT3C B core) or 2100+ OEM/ ECS (definitely good B core), but those were all one day sales and i couldn't get to frys on those days. The rest of the deals are not good, the 2000+ and 2200+ combos are most likely A cores.
I was hoping it's a good deal.
AMD XP 2000+ & ECS K7S5A for $69.99
Even if it is a 'A' I'm sure I can't expect to overclock with this mobo. Infact, I think I'll be lucky if I don't have problems with the ECS.
I just now picked up a "SLIM VOLCANO 8" from a local store for $10.
Is the XP2000+ 'A' hotter than the 'B'? I hope this HSF is good enough. It a smaller aluminum hs w/ a copper plate and a 60mm fan set to run at 4800rpm (+ or -) 10% @ 30dBA.[/quote]
The A does not run hotter than the B except in a few cases where voltages are a bit different. Some of the As run cooler than the Bs even. It is negligible, especially if you are not OCing. You can get special OCing BIOSs for that board. It still wont do much, but you could gain a bit of performance. I belive there are Cheapo and another kinf of BIOS.
