Just got Nascar 2002, Why does the paint shop always lock UP?

The game runs great haven't had a problem with anything as far as the racing goes, only problem is when I try and run the paint shop, my system locks up, and only a reboot will fix it. Anyone know what could be causing this???
 
Do you have the most recent video drivers? Are you trying to run them both at the same time? Are you using DirectX 8.1?
