So it tells me that it cannot install a required inf file whenever i try to install the wdm drivers for the card. Doesnt matter if i use the 6.8 all in one package or the wdm only drivers. Any suggestions? I was using 6.7 with no problems on my x800xl, should I try that? I didnt come up with much with google searches.

Have you run driver cleaner pro to make sure no trace of old drivers are still in?

Un-install the current drivers you're using.

Then get Driver Cleaner Pro (it's free, google it), go in Safe Mode (un-install the drivers in Normal Mode before that). Now run the cleaning tool by clicking "ATI", and only that, nothing more in needed. Start the cleaning. Wait until it's finished.

Now reboot in Normal Mode, run Driver Cleaner again just to be safe, and install another Catalyst version.

I highly suggest Cat 6.7. Cat 6.8 seem to cause a few issues to some users (it's a minority, but you might be part of it, personally, I am having issues of all kinds with 6.8, others are fine with it, you'll have to test if you want to be sure).

Hope it helps.

I uninstalled ati drivers, then ccc, then ati software, then ran driver cleaner pro in safe mode and removed every ati piece in the list, rebooted, and reinstalled cat 6.8 and get the same result. I will try to run the cat 6.7s and see what happens.

Neither the warcats or the omega drivers work for me. I cleaned my drivers like 1000 times and finally discovered that you have to unzip the ati files to the default directory for wdm to work properly. Cat 6.8s still crash my comp though, so I'm using 6.7s with no problems now. Thanks for all of the suggestions! This card rocks :D

I had the same issue with all of my X1900XTXs, although not with my X1800XT. My solution: select custom install and skip the WDM drivers or download just the driver package without CCC and WDM, and use ATI Tray Tools.

This is a known issue since last year apparently, although ATI really doesn't give you much to go on.

737-20576: WDM Integrated Drivers do not install during the initial setup.
The information in this article applies to the following configuration(s):

* WDM Integrated Drivers
* Windows XP

Attempting to install the WDM integrated drivers under Windows XP may result in an error message being displayed indicating that the hardware is not installed because the install wizard cannot find the necessary software.

ATI Engineering has been advised of this issue and is investigating. Any updates will be published when they become available.

You say that you unzipped the WDM files into the default directory, can you be a bit more specific? You might be able to help someone else who has the same issue.

When you open the installer it says setup will install the files in the following folder... blah blah nvidia does the same thing. so I just left it alone at C:\ATI\SUPPORT\6-7_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_34826... c:\ is my xp64 drive, so my early attempts were in d:\ for the xp drive. WDM apparantly didnt like it very well and will not install unless all files are unzipped to the default c directory :confused:

I have the HIS IceQ3 too.. 1900XTX..

had driver install problems too..

Even had a tech at Ati try to help.. I am new at this..

anyway..

My fix was to go with the Omega 6.7 and.. also install the 6.4 WDM...

So far so good..

but.. when it did not work.. terrible screen image to work with.. and be careful if you have Samsung Monitor or Magic Tune.. not compatible.

I see, I kinda thought that you meant that you unzipped them manually to the location where there were supposed to be installed. Odd that the directory would cause this kind of issue. Wasn't the same problem I had though, as I was extracting to the default. Honestly, I didn't really care, as I'm not completely sure what WDM is anyway, and the XTX didn't give me any issues with gaming.

Glad you got it working though.
