Still waiting for my KT7A board from microbarn to come in. In the meantime I'll probably unlock the bridges but I wanted to know what week my cpu is from and if it even matters. Here are the numbers if anyone can help.

A1000AMT3B
AJFA0050BPEW
94204370016

Also, if anyones interested here is the rest of my rig waiting to be set up.

Matrox 450 dual display 32MB DDR
SoundBlaster Live Value
128MBx2 Mushkin rev 3
FPS2000 speakers
plextor 12x10x32A
IBM 45G 75gxp
2 KDS 19in 195e monitors
Logitech cordless keyboard(this things cool, ya got to get one)
MS Optical trackball explorer
Abit KT7A(in transit)
AMD 1G T-Bird

I'll definitely try and overclock this baby but I am popping my cherry on both O/C'ing and building a system. Any wise words of advise would be welcome.

Thanks micron,

Just hope I don't screw it up! I can't wait for the board to get here so I can start this sucker up. Minesweeper should run great on this rig!;)

dingdongdingdong,

That'd be cool if you could post them. I'd be thrilled if mine did 1.3 but 1.4 would blow me away! Nice overclock man! Did you have to screw around with voltage or anything? If you could I'd like to know a few more details on how you did it. My main concern is my video card which from some reviews, does not overclock very well. I wonder if lowering the agp to 2x instead of 4 will help. Anyway, the mobo should arrive on monday(I have mon.-wed. off, yahoo!) so I'll have a lot of time to play around with it. Also, what did you use to test the system. I have sissoft but I need something to push it to the limits to see if it's stable(will sisoft be enough?). Anything you could add would be great. Nice going!!!

Taplight: To attain that high a clock speed, you'll most probably need 1.8V or higher.

Also, to test stability, you can use the Burn-in feature of SiSoft Sandra, SETI@Home, RC5 (sorry, don't have a link, check around the Distributed Computing forum), and the Prime95 torture test. You can also do things like loop Quake3 demos for hours on end.

I've never owned or overclocked a TBird, but I'm ordering a system pretty close to yours in its basics. Except for the video card, cpu, and mobo, which I think I order this week. See my sig. I've read up mega, however.

Your video card is cool for overclocking the FSB =>AGP slot. See this comparative review of video cards used in overclocked systems.

Besides, you aren't even overclocking your system as far as your video card and PCI cards are concerned until you up the FSB above 133. Upping the multiplier only affects the cpu.

My ultimate dream overclock is 10 (multiplier) x 140fsb = 1400. That gets a bit of extra ummph from a little fsb tweaking, but nothing that should give even the most sensitive PCI cards (or Raid0 chipsets) a heart murmer. And nada for video cards. A breeze.

Well, 1400 is ambitious. We'll see.

Where did you buy your T-Bird? Does it have a blueish tinted core, when you rotate it in the light?

Dougjnn,

Thanks for the link and o/c tips. As far as where I got the cpu, I used icomp and got the pricewatch price(173+10.75S/H). Had to phone in the order to get that but it was a pretty good deal so I went ahead. Oh, and yes it has the tinted bluish core(Although I think all t-birds above 1G have that or at least use copper interconnects). Hey, good luck when you get yours together and lemme know how it goes!
