... well.. I just got all my parts ( CPU, mobo, ram etc etc) .. and I put on the Swiftech on my AMD and I started it..

oh boy ..that thing is LOUD !! .... .. I used to leave my computer running w/o turning it off ... and I live in a 600ft studio ... my bed is about 10 ft away from the computer..and I can still hear the fan !! .. that thing is just loud !! . oh .. I have my case cover put back on too .. but ..still .. L O U D !!!!

but as far as temperature goes... the cpu stays at around 47C

so I think it is pretty good ?

Doesn't look that great if that's an idle temp. Typically see ~30 or so with the stock delta in reviews...but that's with good case cooling as well, so that's probably a big factor.

As long as your system don't crash, you're good to go =P.

Hehe...I average in the 30s with my AX-7 and a somewhat quieter fan...the Swiftech is supposed to be a bit better. Then again, I'm running an XP which is supposed to run somewhat cooler too.

Your case have good ventilation and air circulation? Or do you just live in a really hot area?

I got my Swiftech MCX462 in about a week ago, but have not installed it yet, need to order a panaflo and some Arctic Alumina, but im hoping I get a lot lower temps then what I get now...

Temp sounds way high with that HSF, although it depends somewhat on your case temps. If your case temps are low, I'd reinstall the Swifty with some ASII or III and make sure it's properly seated.

Once you get the CPU temp down just 7 volt mod the fan. Your temps will go back up a little, but the noise level will be much lower.

My 462 came with a Sanyo Denki howler. I finally got tired of listening to it and did the 7volt mod and my idle temps are still 33 to 36C depending on the ambient temp.

Temps vary with boards and chips. No two boards measure temps the same. I'm tired of repeating myself and what Mikewarrior always used to preach around here.. but Mike was right.
Saying that reviewers are getting in the 30's is redundant because they had a different board (not just model, even two A7V's for example, will read differently) it's all in the air. Untill we see internal temp diodes (well, boards that support that on the XP anyways... never) there is no way to tell.
Well, I guess if you measure your temps with one of those laser things, then maybe.

47 is damn fine anyways. My old A7V read 60 under load in my cold basement and it NEVER crashed. I've seen higher than that too.

temps vary way too much on motherboards to be sure that that is accurate, unfortunately.

rest assure though, that your CPU will NOT BURN UP with that cooler, and is most likely really low temps right where it should be... my CPU is reporting 58C which I know is too high because on my last mobo, with a 1500 T-Bird it reported 46C WITH THE SAME COOLER and I now have an AXP 1800+ which is suppose to be cooler than the older brother T-Bird. so there is my proof that it lies! 😀

anyways, nice cooler... my CoolerMaster HHC-001 is in the mail.. arch rival! 😀:Q

Duh...but that seems to be the average temp across the board...30-40. I assume they all live in different areas, and I know that they use a variety of boards. So 30-40 is a good estimation of the temperatures you can expect to get.

But as I said, if you aren't crashing, all power to you.
