I am upgrading my build in about a month, which included a Crucial M4 64GB, but yesterday newegg put the 128GB on sale for $80 off and I couldn't resist, so I got it. Now, my question is, should I just wait to get the rest of my parts to test it out or should I throw it in my current build (SATA2) and make sure it works?

If the latter, should I try to install Windows7 on it? Or just put a game or something on it and try to run it? Not really sure what to do. I don't want to do a ton of unnecessary writing on it, but at the same time, if it's a dud, I want to be able to RMA it to newegg.
 
Truthfully I'd leave well enough alone until you get all of your parts then put it together and clean install w7.

I'm just so excited, I'm thinking of reasons to install it and watch how fast it is lol - although my current mobo is only SATA2. At least it has manufacturer 3 year warranty, so if I do install it in a month or so and it doesn't work, that's always an option.
 
Crucial M4 is an excellent choice on a lot of levels, including reliability. Wise move getting the bigger one. I think you're better off waiting until you do the new W7 build.

Make sure you upgrade it to the latest 009 firmware.

There are compatibility issues with certain chipsets using older m4 firmwares, esp. with SATA 2 setups.
