Just Got My (replacement) Razr

I jumped on the free black Razr deal at wirefly. I got the phone on Thursday, charged it on Friday and started messing with it today. Now the following happens:

1. After I complete a call, it freezes up. I have to turn it off and on to get it to work.

2. Entries in my address book magically disappear. at one point, over half of them went bye-bye. There is no apparent pattern: short names, long names, primary #'s, etc. all disappear.

3. When I pull the address book off the phone and to my computer, some (but not all) of the missing names show up.

I don't have much in storage...just a couple of 30 second custom ringtones and some icons.

SO, I called good ole wirefly and now have to wait for the replacement.

Anyone else have these problems? I sure hope the new phone fixes these issues cause I like this thing...

Update

Got my new phone. I don't have a white screen of death anymore. Random entries in my address book, however, continues to disappear. It's driving me bonkers. I don't know what to do now...

Update 2

Sigh... The problem with my address book is apparently resolved. I have to assume it has to do with me connecting to my computer via the USB cable.

NOW, I have a brand new problem. Starting yesterday, if I let my phone sit unused for a couple hours, the screen goes black. It won't reset. I have to remove the damn battery to reboot it.

My buddy warned me about Motorola phones. I guess I should've listened...

Friend had the same thing.. he got a new one and it fixed it.

BTW if you want more storage get a trans-flash card, lets you record much longer videos too.

I'm glad that when the Motorola Razr V3c comes out for Verizon Wireless, it will have updated software - so hopefully all the bugs are taken care of.

And before anyone whines that the razr is GSM and VZW is CDMA, google "Motorola Razr V3c"

I asked the wirefly rep if I could use this cell until my new one arrives. He said yes. Now, my sim card is unregistered :(

Joy. Now, I'm completely phoneless...

A little off topic but can you get around the 15 second limit on the E815?

Edit

Saw your reply in another thread... 3 minutes is way better. This is without seem editing? Just save the video to transflash right?

Then you need to get back on the phone to wirefly. It sounds like they deactivated your sim. Did you try the sim in another phone?

Heh, sounds like you're with Verizon then. You couldn't get one if you wanted to, unless you were switching carriers.

My G/F has t-mobile and I have verizon

I was going to dump my verizon plan because they were being a-holes every time I went there anyway and go with t-mobile because the best plans I could get were about the same...but the mp3 player sold me and it turned out since I was due for an upgrade I got it for 50$ with rebates

You act like the RAZR has a transflash slot, it does not, same exact feature set as my 2-year old V600. The RAZR's success banks on the way it LOOKS, obviously not features or reliability. Moto put out some really buggy, all around crappy phones for GSM (the triplet series, V300, V400, V500, V600, V80, and some of their offspring, V551, RAZR) but some of their newer offerings (V360, V635, RAZR V3i [now officially announced, its what the first fvcking RAZR should have been, its based off the V635, sans the LED flash and EDGE]) are really nice. Return that little bastard if you can.

My cell is my only phone. Nope, I didn't try the sim in another phone. I'll have to wait to until Monday to call...

sheik124: Couldn't agree more. This phone is more hype than anything. I picked up a silver one, and saw no real improvement over my friends' older model Moto phone, except for the casing. The thing was an absolute headache to use, and is overall, the worst phone I've ever used. It's since been returned.

I can't agree with you more on that point either. A friend of mine picked a black RAZR up, after playing with it for 5 minutes, I realized my V600 didn't do any less than his $300 fashion statement did, and I'd had it for almost a year. As a matter of fact, I prefer the casing of the V600 (and now V635, I love that thing) to that of the RAZR, the V600 literally went skidding across a parking lot (jumped off a ledge, bounced out of my holster, and went flying) and I could only find two scratches on it (landed on the back). That, combined with 10 or 20 other falls, and that thing is STILL going strong, even after I got my new phone.

From what I've read on the Razr, you either get lucky and have no problems, or it drives you insane. I also heard Wirefly is baaaaad. I've been looking at new phones myself lately. Found a smart phone for $30, reviews were fantastic, but user reviews are the same deal as the Razr. I've been using cell phones for a while, and it seems to me the fancier they are, the more problems they have. Or in the case of Nokia, they always suck. I would just pray you get lucky, no matter what you choose...

Can you explain this more? Where are you storing your entries, on the phone or on the sim? Are you assigning them to categories?

They are all being stored to the phone. I'm not using categories. The only things i've added to the phone (besides numbers) are 5 400kb ringtones and 15 5kb pictures.

I added my complete address book last night. I thumbed through and everything was there. 5 minutes later, half of the secondary numbers and several other numbers were missing. I don't see any pattern.

What do you mean by half of the secondary numbers are there? Is there any missing ringtones or pics?
