Just got my Peak LED Solutions flashlight today and I am VERY impressed. This thing is awesome. For those who don't know, it is a pocket/keychain type flashlight, sort of an unofficial successor to the Arc AAA flashlight. It uses 1 AAA battery, is water resistant, shock resistant, has a super long batter life, is very bright, and the LED lasts a "lifetime". Here is the website where I got it. You can get it in different materials, have hi power or ultra power, have 1 or 3 LEDs (5 with a AA battery), get it in different styles/sizes, and choose different colors for the LED.

Damn, this is sounding like I'm work for them or soemthing :frown: well, I don't. I just really like my new flashlight. The only thing I don't like about it is that it cost me 35 bucks :( If you want a cheaper LED flashlight, look for the Dorcy 1 LED AAA at Target, the only major downside about that is that it isn't water resistant, but it's onlya bout $8.

I took some comparo pics between my old Maglite Solitaire (incandescent) and the new Peak (LED).

Flashights Angled

Pics were taken from the same distance and flashlight placement in complete darkness. The lights are only a few inches away and the camera is in night mode.
Solitaire Adjusted Wide shown on Wall
Solitaire Focused on Wall
Peak on Wall

These pics were taken witht he lights about 3 ft. away in complete darkness, same distance for all. The camera is in night mode, but I don't have a tripod so that's why some of them are fuzzy.

Solitaire Medium

EDIT: Both lights were using brand new batteries and haven't been on for more than 5 minutes.

I prefer headlamps. After you use one of those, you'll no longer care for regular flashlights...it's nice having your hands free so you can work on stuff at night.

BTW...those look cool. LEDs are definitely a good buy for flashlightage. I'm a big halogen fan myself though...I like the distance you can get on the beam a little better. Multi-LEDs usually make better flood lights, etc...

I wonder how it compares to a Surefire 6P? I have that and I think it rocks :)

Different class of light. This Peak is 1xAAA (1.5V) and 1x5mm LED, I think total output < 10 lumens (though this is a guess). The 6P is 2x123 (6.0V) with choice of 55 or 120 lumens depending on lamp assembly.

The Peak is sized for a keychain, while the 6P is barely pocketable (IMO, I like smaller E-series size lights).

Indeed.

I was looking at the other flash light thread and saw your name pop up.

6P stays in my bag pocket and get pulled out when it is needed.
