What type of success should I expect in o/c ing this puppy with ArcS5 and a Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu ? I've done some searching on this forum and I've been finding mixed results. Some say it will do 2.80 on air at near default voltage while others say that this stepping is just a X2 core, repackaged. Any feedback?

It should do 2.6ghz on stock voltage, of that I'm pretty certain. The cooler should be able to handle it as well. Anything more I can't gaurantee, but could be possible ...

Thanks for the feedback! I understand there's no guarentees on any O/C-ing but I just wanted an idea. My goal is to get to 2.8 on air, anything above that is gravy!

That's good, because 2.7-2.8 Ghz is where most of the newest steppings have been topping out.

Yeah' I'm currently running a FX-55@2.9. So I figure if I can get the 165 up to 2.8, my XP game performance will be the same or slightly better.

Be careful, that was my exact train of thought when i switched from my FX-55 to my Opty165, I wish i'd kept the FX-55.

conlan: Why, what happened?

I'm running right now at 2.8 on air at default voltage. I've only running ORTHOS for a couple of hours but I've had no problems so far. After a couple hours of ORTHOS, my cpu temp got up to 58C. Is this acceptable? It's likely my ArcSilver 5 hasn't cured yet.

p.s. PC would not boot at 2.9, even at 1.45V.
