Just got my Opteron 165. Stepping Question here.

I've been trying to search around for the stepping codes to see if my processor seems to be a good week or version. I just recieved it from monarch because they had the OEMs in stock for $300. I can't try it out yet because I'm still waiting on my motherboard and was told to go with the msi neo-4 for easy of use decent features and good overclocking. I haven't ordered it yet though. So if there is something better do suggest it.

The numbers on my chip are:
(Can anyone explain what they mean. And if my Ocing luck will be good?)
(O or Zero I'm not sure)sa165daa6cd
ccbwe0546mpmw
136728AL50213

Thanks I'll be checking back :)

The 0546's are pretty good. There are mutilple threads on here discussing steppings and code breakdown.

Cpuz will not tell you the stepping on amd chips.

He already told us the stepping in his OP. I think the 0546s are pretty good overclockers.

LOL, you whiffed on that one brother....

The 0546 code refers to the 46th production week of the year '05.

All that code relates to is the assembly information.
E.g. APAW is as follows
A= Monday
P = Penang (place of assembly)
A = 1st lot assembled on that day
W = mixing of water lots is prohibited

B = Tuesday
M in 3rd digit position means mixed assembly lot.

Just and update. My ccbwe0546mpmw Opteron is currently PRime95 for hmm, 5hrs now on 2.7ghz. My memory is running at 250 on a 166mhz divider and my FSB is 300 with a 9x multiplyer. So far so good. Any input on how I can get a full 1ghz OC or point me in the right direction?

are you running dual prime or just one instance. make sure you are running dual prime as one core could be weaker than the other which is my case. my core 0 can prime at 2.8 and up at 1.5, but my core 1 needs 1.56V to get 2.7.

I am running what the guide said to run I believe. BTW it got through the night so I'm golden unless I'm not doing what you said I should be doing Ericeash. I have 2 prime95's open, one set to 0 cpu and one set to 1 cpu under the set affinity. Then I ran the torture test > small FFT's > click OK. The guide said to run the torture test first but I opened them, set affinity and then ran the test itself. Both my CPU were under load and I don't know if your was but let me know. I think I'm ok.

I wish! Voltage at 1.525 i believe. Its a little higher that 1.5. I actually wanna try to stepp it down a bit to see if it will crash but I'm golden right now and don't wanna mess anything up. I just want to be greedy and try to get a full ghz out of it. I wish my bois has the 150 divider cause 133 seems to crash everything.
