Hi all

I just grabbed the 18"x8.5 Enkei RZ-5 for my Black 2006 Camry. Im receiving them today but I just have 1 question for you experts out there.

The wheels are already balanced and the tire pressures all match but Is it neccesary to get a wheel alighnment? If yes, how much should it generally cost?

If its recommended and not needed, how long could i ride for before getting one?

thanks in advance

Check your old tires to see if there is any uneven wear. If the thread is wearing down evenly then an alignment isn't needed. If you notice any uneven thread wear you'll definitely want to get an alignment done cause it will eat through those high performance low profile tires real quick.

Unless the vehicle is pulling to one side or the other, there is no abnormal tire wear or suspension problems needing repair, the negative.

alignment is generally only needed with suspension changes, mere rim change should be fine.

BTW great wheel choice.

You just put expensive wheels on a Camry. I think an ass whooping would be better than an alignment. :p

thanks for the quick responses guys, i feel more comfortable now

actually everybody has this misconception about the camry, thinking its just a family car.
Im actually 22 years old and its a great car for me. I tink after about 2003, they started making the move from midsize sedans to a full size sedan(my model). Its quite nice, and ill put pics maby later on tonight or tommorow. I have the car in black and it looks great and even if it doesnt, Enkei rims have great resell value anyway.

Thanks again

Nope your fine. Whats wrong with rims on a camry? Any rims are better than steelies/hubcaps and they make the car look that much better.

Camry is a family car. *shrug* Doesn't make it bad, just weird to put rims on it.

actually your right, it is kinda weird but i've been checking out the camrys on cardomain.com and they look great with rims

also my car is black so i think gunmetal rims would look pretty kool. Im going for that slightly clean cut blacked out look without ricing it out

No, unless they messed with your suspension, you generally do not need one. Unless you haven't had one for a very long time.

if the rim size is different, you should get your speedometer recalibrated. I'm not sure if this is true or not but I know my friend got pulled over a couple times when he put bigger rims on his Jeep and the cop asked him if the were stock rims/tires.

Tire circumference is the critical factor for recalibration of the speedometer, modern automobile speedos can be recalibrated through the use of a OBD II scanner.

WTF does a cop care if the wheels are stock?

Any car can look better with a nice set of wheels. Of course they actually have to match the car somewhat to look good. Can't just grab any set of wheel and put them on a car just because they're chrome.
