I'm going to go way out on a limb here and say "cr@ptastic". There is no mention of the actual steel used, its "Damascus-style", aka not Damascus, aka painted-on-and-will-disappear-after-you-cut-two-things-with-it, no mention of the specific handle material, there is no way in hell its affiliated with or carried by SEALs, and no mention that the blades will lock halfway out, meaning that holding it in the middle with both blades half extended is a nice way to amputate your fingers if you try to use it in that position.

What is the biggest knife that isn't considered a concealed weapon?

Depends on where you live

Found it for TX. 5.5".

(6) "Illegal knife" means a:
(A) knife with a blade over five and one-half inches;
(B) hand instrument designed to cut or st@b another by being thrown;
(C) dagger, including but not limited to a dirk, stilletto, and poniard;
(D) bowie knife;
(E) sword; or
(F) spear.

Guess I can't carry a spear 🙁.

Lol.. st@b is censored!

Keep in mind that is a statewide thing, and you county/city may have very different laws. Basically, all it is is a maximum on the allowed knife size in the state, and not the maximum for where you live... if you see what I am saying

It looks in that position? Anyway, I wouldn't buy it. It looks very sh!tty. I was just showing you guys a wierd knife.

I said "locks", and I said that they didnt mention it doing so, and thus it probably didnt do so.

Funny how it's called a Navy Seal Fighter Knife... I bet every Navy Seal would look at this thing and laugh, and would probably shoot themselves if they ever had to be trained to use this hunk of crap.

Not to hijack a thread, but can anyone recomend a folding knife that is 1 to 2 inches in length and can be purchased for <$50. I need something very small, yet very sharp.

i dont have alot of experience with cutlery but ive considered most of the popular small knives... my chive, the kiss'es, and a few others. if youre not doing anything heavy duty that requires a super strong blade maybe you should get a leatherman squirt multitool? along with the very compact size it has a very sharp blade and a bunch of other useful tools...and cost around your price range

I need it for a) emergencies and b) defense. I don't really want a multitool as I have no use for one.

I picked up a Kershaw Ken Onion Chive this summer. Admittedly, it hasn't seen a ton of abuse (I only work summers as a groundskeeper, other than that I'm a computer lab guy), but it seems to be holding up fine. The blade is nice and sharp and the screws don't seem to budge. The assisted opening is swank as all get out.

thats weird. i mean i do play with the knife in opening and closing it a bunch of times but the screws shouldnt come loose! i pretty much tightened the 2 further from the swivel point as hard as i can, and the last screw is moderately tight (too much compression and it wouldnt allow the blade to move). after about 30 openings ALL 3 screws come loose!

the blade did not come sharp out of the box, nor does it stay sharp... it just doesnt have the 'razor edge' feel of the leatherman. i dont know if i got a defected knife, to keep the replacement if kershaw decides to give me a new knife... or if i should return the replacement to the store

Sounds defective to me - 30 openings should not loosen the screws. I used to practice opening and closing this thing all the time and they never got loose.

A 2" blade isnt going to get you much for defense. And a 1 inch blade... well, you'd be better of with a medium sized screwdriver.

From the cops I know in TX - they basically put the blade against the palm of their hand - if the tip sticks out a lot they confiscate it.

Do they do anything besides confiscate it?

Depends on the cop. Wink said legal length was 5.5". I thought it was 4" or maybe 5" max. I guess they could write you a ticket if the knife is indeed illegal.

I have a 4" blade right now, but I doubt the ocllege I will be moving to will like me carrying that around. I think I would get in less trouble if caught with a 2".

My college never restricted blades any more than the state legal code.

never say for defense. claiming a knife is a tool is the safest way to not get it confiscated and cops hate it when you say "i need it to protect myself".

Ahhh, Knife Content!!!! Personally, I go with Customs now adays. A Timex tells the time as good as a Rolex, but when you are going to carry or wear something everyday. It should be the best

What's a good 3"+ blade, unserrated knife that is cheap?

Well, I suppose it depends on your definition of cheap. I like Spyderco knives as a cheaper knife.

My Christmas present to myself is a brand new "Chris Reeve Knives" brand Classic Sebenza. Not cheap at all but should last me the rest of my life and since they are so popular with knife freaks it's a very good investment because if I get sick of it I can sell it for at least what I paid for it which is cool. 😀

As Mookow pointed out, the ramanon.com forums have some good general knife forums and the "Knife Talk" forum might help you pick out a good cheap knife. A link is in my sig.

Of course they dont want to admit that they cannot do what many americans believe they are there for (protecting them).
