It looks crappy on the PS2 (obviously), but it is just huge compared to my old 13" Apex Tube TV. Color is vivid, thing itself is very responsive, and comes with an HDMI port.

My only complaint is that the PS2 just look ugly on it. Hopefully, PS3 will be able to upscale PS2 games for this thing.

I also just hooked the TV up to my computer, and ran Half-Life 2 completely maxed out at 1360x768 (native res). It is a sight to behold, the colors are so vibrant and vivid compared to my current 17" monitor (even on a Radeon 9250), and there wasn't a significant performance hit either, due to the lower native resolution.

It's a true widescreen (16:9), and is capable of 480, 720p, and 1080i. I highly recommend this monitor for both computer and gaming use, it is well worth the money. And speaking of money, this has to be one of the best values for your money. You couldn't possibly get a better HDTV for $400. It's hooked up through an HDMI to DVI cable.

I'm in love with this thing. That's HL2 at 1360x768, everything maxed, on my measly Radeon 9250. Somehow, it works at a plausible framerate! :D

And I'm sure there are several of you here rocking with a 30" LCD, 8800GTX with a Core 2 Duo system; well this TV was bought specifically for the PS3, not to mention I don't have the riches for such a system. The PS3 is probably the closest I'll ever get, as I only had a budget of $1000 or so dollars. $600 on the PS3, $400 on the TV, and probably $100 on a game and an HDMI cable.

Oh yeah, and as demonstrated by one of the pics above, I now have dual monitors. Watching the MGS4 trailer in 720p on one, and surfing the web on another totally owns. :D

I'm looking forward to trying this out on my PS3. :)

do you have gran turismo4 for the PS2? i was playing it yesterday and I noticed it supported 1080i :Q:Q:Q if you do have it, does it look any better in 1080i than it does in 480i/480p?

Nice. I personally went from a 27" bubble screen TV with no AV ports (poor college student) to a 50" Samsung 720p DLP TV (even poorer college student, thank god for 18mos no interest with Best Buy card) in anticipation of getting a PS3.

Enjoy!

$399 for that monitor? I got a 22" Acer widescreen 1680x1050 for $259 out the door from Circuit City a few days ago. It has DVI so it should work with the PS3 (HDMI to DVI).

hate to rain on your parade but for $80 more $$$ you could have gotten a 32" 1366x768 Westinghouse on BF.

Aye, 20" is way too small for console gaming. My 30" CRT HDTV is about the smallest I'd go.

Hey! That 17" Dell is the same one I am using now. What have you thought of it? I havent had any other LCD's, and dont have anything to compare it too.

Also, what is this monitor? I havent had much time browsing through Dell's site, and I preferably wouldnt want to spend more.

You made a good choice. The Sceptre is a solid package for the money. I've got a 37" 1080p set in the family room, and it looks great. Had it up for about eight months now.

I think you may end up disappointed with 20" to be honest. I game on a 19" LCD (with my XBOX 360) for the moment and it's just too small. It was fine when I had a KVM hooked up to switch between my PC and my XBOX 360, because I sat so close (since I never moved from my natural PC position). But now sitting on my bed and playing... it just ruins the experience in most games (except Lumines Live! :p)

I've been thinking about buying a ~40" Samsung HDTV, but I don't know... the idea of it acting as an aux monitor does sound interesting though and my older PC will be turned into a media hub very soon (as it also has a TV tuner card).

I looked at a crapload of screens over four months (not to mention reading just about the entire Sceptre and Westy 37/42 threads at AVSForums). The Sceptre is definitely on the value-priced end of the spectrum, but it has one of the nicest pictures I saw, very crisp and vibrant on hi-def, and other than having to tweak a memory setting on setup it's been working flawlessly since we put it in.

I'm sure you can buy better, but like my 24" Dell the Sceptre is a good value in a 1080 screen at its price.

Sceptre and Westinghouse are at top of the price/value category.

I can't imagine a 30" CRT right in front of me right now. I'm only around 6 inches away from the monitor, so it suits me well. =)

Compared to the Sceptre? It's not much of a comparison, the Dell is blown away to bits by the Sceptre. After all, it is an HDTV.

Some Hindi/Indian movie. I'll ask my parents later. :p

The price to pay would be to stand in line outside for a few hours.

Alright, got my PS3 yesterday. And Christ, this thing is godly! PS3 is shiny as heck, and complemented by this excellent TV. You probably couldn't have a better price/value TV, Resistance looks excellent, and the demo of Motorstorm looks great (ignoring the rock and ground textures, motion blur and fun) makes up for it.

The Sceptre is hooked up to the PS3 with an HDMI cable (the silver, shiny cord that you see), and I set the PS3 to output at 720p. Picture quality is excellent.

Exuse the horrible quality and darkness, I didn't realize how bad it was. I just wanted to play Resistance online. ;p

can your LCD handle high resolutions? I heard that if a LCD can't support 1080P, the signal becomes outputed at 480p and then scaling sucks monkey balls. Seems to be a big issue with the PS3 currently; can you care to comment?

Completely false. My TV supports 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i., but not 1080p. I booted up the PS3 for the first time through Composite cables (as it was recommended by someone else on another forum), and then went into display settings, configured that I wanted HDMI, hooked up HDMI, and set a *desired* output resolution. I have the option of running 1080i, but instead, I'm running 720p as it is supposedly much smoother.

Edit: Well, actually, not-so-false. I misread your question, so I misinterpreted what you were getting at, my mistake. My main point was, I've had no scaling issues thus far, the only time I "did" was when the PS3 booted up, and it was at a default setting at 480i. After setting up everything correctly in the display settings, you should have a choice of what resolution you want, in this case, I chose 720p.

Upscaling error link, yee.

Meh, 20 inches and a crappy brand don't the games justice.

That outer frame design with silver crap on the bottom is hideous.

Do you even have any idea of what you're talking about? =/

Buy it, hook it up to a PS3 with an HDMI cable, and come back saying it's bad.

How is it a crappy brand, btw? Have you had any experience with Sceptre, as in, not just an isolated incident?

& I sit around a foot away from the TV itself. I feel that if it were any bigger, I'd have to move my head to analyze the entire screen.

I just bought a new 32" Sony Bravia yesterday :D
To use with my PS3 and 360.

I'm contemplating taking it back and spending basically double for the 40" 1080p version.
