Hello,

I just got my new computer from CyberPower and tech support is closed so I'm hoping you guys could help me tonight.

When I put in the Win XP Home CD to install it, I get to the blue screen, and I push ENTER to install. Then it says something along the lines of:

"Windows could not detect a hard drive. Please make sure the hard drive is powered on and properly connected to the computer and any disk-related configuration is correct. BLA BLA BLA"

It's a 200GB Maxtor SATA drive. I'm thinking because it's SATA there's something I need to do for it to be detected? The motherboard is the MSI K8T Neo (VIA chipset). The system has no floppy (no HD disk came with it anyway).

I checked and the hard drive is definitely connected. Also, the hard drive shows up when I go to the RAID menu (i don't have raid or anything, just went to that menu to see if the hard drive is detected).

What should I do?

hi,
you need a floppy to install the sata drivers so that windows can see the disk.
hit f6 during the initial windows load from the cd (it'll prompt you on the bottom of the screen)
as far as i know, windows xp will only accept the driver from a floppy. though you could probably slipstream it into a burned xp install cd. but that's usually a bit more trouble than just finding a floppy to use for 5 minutes.
good luck
