well a lease is never a good choice from a financial perspective, but then again neither is purchasing a new car. but i didn't get owned by any stretch of the imagination - the monthly payments are determined by the residual value of the car at the end of the lease, and also by the negotiated price. 1100 under invoice was pretty damn good. i want to know where you can lease a $27k car for $250 a month w/o a large down payment. hell, mazda's "special" lease program calls for a base mazda6 (~20k) for $1500 down, $269 a month. over the lifetime of the lease, i got ~$6k worth of options for ~$750. i'm extremely happy with what i'm getting for the money.

well anyway, i'm going to exercise the buy option at the end of the lease anyway. i just graduated college and have about $10k in savings. to get a monthly payment in the ~$250s i would've had to put all my money down on the car, which i wasn't willing to do. at the end of the 4 years i'll be in a better position to purchase the remaining value of the car. i worked out the numbers and the lease will cost me less than $500 more than if i had gone w/ a straight purchase over 5 years. (assuming the value of the car doesn't change from what was estimated in the lease contract.)

OMG... That's an awesome car. It's amazing how folks in US can lease a car. The car costs prolly ~USD55-65k here in Malaysia fully imported. Dang...

Well, other than the car industry, other stuff seems to be quite fine :)

congrats. Nice car.

I wouldn't buy it in black though, living where I am. My car is red and it gets hot enough with the damn heat.
