Anybody here have a motorola v600? how do you like it? what features do you find yourself using the most? (other than the calling feature)

EDIT: I just got my v600 phone....very very pleased with it 🙂

the only thing is that it seems as though my Jabra wireless bluetooth headset doesn't work with it...oh well, that's what my other phone is for 😉 (Nokia 3650)

Thanks to those that told me to get it 😀

Cheers!

I have a V400 which is the same thing minus video and bluetooth. Haven't had any problems with it. And there are many hacks you can do to it. Very good phone. Just make sure you get the data cable ($0.99 on ebay) it will make the phone a lot better.

Same here. Got mine a few weeks ago and I love that thing. It's much more advanced than the POS I had for years prior.

Click Me

The only thing I've done to my phone is raise the default volume levels. But from what I've read you can do many things. I'm speaking for my V400 but I know people have modified their menus, enabled video, changed the default text showing on your phones screen (instead of cingular it will say whatever you want), there are a bunch of things people do. I haven't kept up with it lately because my phone works great and I don't want to mess with it.

Edit:

I mainly use it to download the pictures I take from my phone to my PC instead of having to email them. You can also upload any MP3 as a ringtone which is pretty cool. You can also upload games to your phone using it. There are a lot of cool games (that you can find for free) for these phones. I've even seen some mario bros. games.

The Vxxx series are highly customizable, as they all share the same firmware. Since you have Bluetooth on the V600, a data cable may not be necessary provided you have it on your computer, also. You can find a lot of information on and utilities for changing flex and firmware to enable new features and change the behavior of the phone, as well as for customizing things like the exterior display (mine says "Ikonomi" when it's in use).

I wanted to upgrade my motorola v525 to the v600, but only if the battery life was better. How long does the battery last if you have bluetooth on?

Battery life should be exactly the same. I don't think it's worth it to upgrade V525 to V600. Check out some of the newer phones.

Do you know of a phone that has better battery life, and bluetooth?

You could check out http://www.phonescoop.com/ . That's where I got the battery information. Some newer phones probably have better battery life, but I honestly don't know. You can use the Phone Finder to specify Bluetooth and whatever else you want and search.

by the way Bluetooth isnt all that its made up to be. It will work the first few times (like it did for me) after which it stops file transfer.

I just bought the data cable from cell phone shop.. for 10+s&h.

I have the V505.

Just got the V400 and love it so far. Haven't modded it at all. Just switched to Cingular from Spring (for a few reasons but I wasnt happy about doing so), but I get reception in most of the places I didnt before and I get full reception at my house as opposed to one or two bars with Sprint. Also the screen looks A LOT better than my Samsung. Better camera too.

drops calls like no other.

what service provider to you have? could a better antenna fix that?

I don't know if it's a difference between phones, or a difference between service providers, but my V400 has only dropped a couple calls since I got it a few months ago. Both dropped downstairs in my house, which is like the Bermuda Triangle when it comes to cell service.

I also have a custom antenna (bluedayz from HoFo made it), which is slightly below the stock antenna in terms of RF quality.
