i dont trust anything cept coolbits and rivatuner. get rid of whatever the hell it was and download those two. rivatuner is an actual programs while coolbits is a regestry entry that activates some hidden features within nvidias drivers. ie. overclocking. also, download the 65.73 drivers from guru3d.com they are the best performing WQHL drivers that fixes a ton of stuff including the freeze when u exit doom3. disable fast writes for a little better performance, farcry stoped stuttering for me when i disabled fast writes. if u have 512 megs of ram or more, set AGP aperature to 256, otherwise 128. thats all u really need to know so far. have fun with the 6 series.

My man!!!

Leadtek always produces KickA-s products.

Being an owner of the prestigious Gefore 4 Ti from Leadtek, there was no turning back.

Though, i bought an X800 Pro cause the Leadtek GT wasnt available but i think i should have waited more.

About winfox, that is WinFox 2 utility.

Winfox is the best OCer your ever going to get for Leadtek Cards.

I've never had such a problem of resetting of OC's

I think you are doing something wrong.

First of all, the Winfox 2 takes about 4 seconds to OC to a frequency, secondly it is a must to press the OK bbutton otherwise your settings wont stay.

Also, i need to know if restarting the computer does this problem, if not and the OC resets automatically within windows than your probably running something wrong.

Also, i must tell you that each time you OC through Winfox and restarting the PC, Windows XP gives and OC message at the start.

I think i got your problem, OC your Card, Apply and restart the PC.

Windows XP on restart must post a msg about OC, press OK there to confirm.

Any way, even without OC that leadtek is so cool.

WTF, why should he set the Graphics aperature size to 256 MB, doesnt matter if he has 512 MB of ram.

He already has a 256 MB card, why wasting his Ram and thats 256 MB of ram when it wont even be used by any game.

OK, i still wonder why it takes 4 seconds through Winfox.

Nonetheless, when you OC through Winfox, turn on your speakers to hear a horrible engine sound accelerating, that means your card is being OCed.

Once done, Must must apply the OK button and then another OK to hide the Winfox Utility.

Also, i hope your not using NVIDIA drivers.

Ok, this is another stupid problem.......

Leadtek modify NVIDIA drivers to add some kind of Leadtek ID's into the drivers.

So, as far as i know, if your using NVIDIA driver, i bet your going to run into trouble.

Honestly, Leadtek updates its drivers within 15 days of the release of original drivers from NVIDIA.

So make sure......

1. Your only using Leadtek Drivers ( CD or download the latest from Leadtek.com.tw )
2. Your applying the settings by pressing OK
3. After restarting your PC, windows XP must prompt for a change in OC.

If Win XP doesnt prompt for a change in OC after a restart, that seems unusual cause with my Winfox, Windows always prompts a msg just as the desktop loads up after a restart.

While, your second Q is about 2D OC.

Doesnt matter to bo honest, it doesnt even matter if NVIDIA OC's its card under 3D Games.

Do it!!! OC under 2D doesnt make sense, but do it and try it.

However, your Leadtek GT will be running at about 57 deg C on idle.

don't set aperture to 256. u WILL kill performance. i remember reading somewhere that "technically your aperture should get smaller if your video card's RAM get bigger". i don't remember the explanation but leave at the BIOS default (usually 64 or 128)

No offense to the OP, but all I could do was laugh because when I read the thread title, all I kept thinking was,"Just got my new 6800GT, now someone tell how I can blow it up please." Sorry, cant help it. :p

I know this is off subject, but i'm trying to reuse a thread. Two questions about a Leadtek 6800 gt.

1) I read where a guy removed the mesh fan cover for more airflow, does anyone else recommend that or should I leave it be?

2) After much research, this is without a doubt the card I want, the best price I found is $388. Anyone know a better price?

About 1) if you remove it you make it less effective how? whell the air flow is controled by that when you remove it it wil be 30% less effective

Just my 2 cents

AGP Aperture has little effect on performance, set it to whatever you want.

Also, forget Leadtek's drivers, there's nothing special about them and the most up to date nV drivers should be the best for you performance wise.

Removing the mesh fan cover could only improve airflow with the fan on the card.

I have that card also, great card.
I use Nvidia's 61.77 and coolbits 2 to overclock.
I tried the new 65.73 drivers but they were buggy.
No need to stick to Leadteks drivers, they"re not updated fast enough anyway.
