This is a pretty sweet printer - the Epson Stylus PHOTO R200 printer. I got it on Newegg on sale over the weekend for $90.99 shipped. It's my first printer of my very own, not my family's. We've used HP's in the past, and I wanted to try something new. I don't care much for HPs - they're alright but have some problems sometimes that I don't care for.
I decided to buy an R200 after some research. It prints borderless 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10, as well as the usual 8.5x11 paper and envelopes and whatnot. It also prints directly to inkjet-surface CDr and DVDr discs (and mini-CDs, too!). I bought a 100-pack of 80-minute Ritek white inkjet-surface CDr discs from Newegg for about $23. The matte finish on the CDs look really nice when printed. I bought the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack on iTunes the other day, so I printed a neat Spider-Man CD and burned the soundtrack. Pretty sweet, looks WAY better than the stickers I've used in the past.
By the way, it's now $93.98 on Newegg if you're interested. Linky
I printed out a few 4x6" borderless photos. They look REALLY good. If you check the "Photo Enhance" option when printing, it really enhances the picture's quality. This is surprising because the HP stuff I've used in the past usually screws things up, and so I just do all the work in Paint Shop Pro beforehand. The inks are great, it's dry by the time it comes out and it doesn't smudge. The HP inks had a major smudge problem. I remember sending my brother some pictures on photo paper and by the time they got to him across the country, they had all melted together. This paper (4x6" Epson photopaper) and the R200 makes the picture so it doesn't even leave fingerprints when you touch it, it's pretty sweet.
Anyway, I really like this printer. It looks cool, prints awesome, and is just plain neat. Props to Epson!
