Just Got My BFG 7800GT

Just got done playing around with my new BFG 7800GT. Sucker overclocks nicely I think... 490/1.18. 3DMark05 is 7698. Games run flawlessly at all the highest details. My only beef is the fan. It is by far the loudest think in my case. My computer went from quiet to loud. I know the fan isn't spinning as fast as it can, but it's still spinning way to fast considering the core is idling at 50C. Any clue how to quiet this little monster down aside from buying a 3rd party HSF?

MBentz - I got the same card. Yeah, it's a little noisy, but not the loudest in my system so it's okay for me.

Cookie Monster is right. Case cooling or maybe you can pull the sink/fan and put some Artic on it.

These would only work if you think the fan is okay at idle loads, then you can try to keep it from spinning so fast when it's working overtime. I'm sure OC'ing will make that fan run overtime too. You'll have to make a choice, OC or Noise. Also, with two of these bad boys in there I'm sure heat will rise some more.

The NV silencer 5 rev3 are awesome. I don't own one, but have considered it for OC. I'm not planning on SLI right now, but are you sure SLI will not work with these in your system?

Uhhhhhh... because with SLI there won't be any room for the top card to breathe.

What kind of mobo do you have? I have a Asus SLI board with two slots inbetween the video cards and I run dual NV5 Silencers with no problems.

So just like the GeForce 6 series, the cooling on BFGs is crappy & loud.
Good to know.

I don't think anyone here said crappy. The loud part is everywhere!

With or without OCing the fan is loud. Oh well, looks like I have no choice. The motherboard I'll be using for SLI is the eVGA board.
