What should I do now?

Do i need to install anything to take advantage of the 2nd core?

In case ne one is wondering, why did he get a x2 when intels core 2 is kicking ass. And the answer is simply b/c I don' t want to upgrade my entire system. This was a cost effective upgrade, I am going to milk every last bit of performance out of this 939 mobo.

Should be just a drop in and go, unless you've got an eary s939 board then you might need a bios update. I would update to the latest bios to be sure.

Be sure to update your BIOS, other than that, you should be ready to go. Be careful, Unreal 1 engine games run like shit on a Dual Core, be sure to adjust the affinity.

Nope, you also have to have SP2 installed.

I didn't even have to reinstall windows. Just remember to uninstall all previous amd drivers before you swap cpu's.

It's also always best to uninstall the "ACPI Uniprocessor". Windoze doesn't always catch on that the processor has been changed, though that seems to depend somewhat on which version of XP being used. But when it only takes ~5 seconds, why not?:D

Also updating to the newest bios for your mobo is definitely recommended.

Agreed, and sorry to make it seem like I was picking on you. I wasn't, your post just had all of the points I wanted to make already laid out.
