just got me parts

ok, just ot everything a little while ago and the psu hole dont line up with the case holes and there doesnt seem to be anyway to get this 2 to work together.

this is the psu I got,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104934

and the case I bought in Dec 2003,
CASE ATX DYNAPOWER MODEL D22-BK

heck I cant even seem to find it via google!!

so, I think im going to need a new case, which I didnt think I was going to need being that the case is ATX and the psu is ATX and so on.

or is there some kind of adaptor they sell or something to make the 2 work together??

Your case should have come with a PSU mounting plate. Kind of looks like a metal picture frame.

The little frame bolts to the power supply. The little frame has holes that line up with the holes on the case. If this is not the way it is for you, then you have a problem.

You bought a good power supply, but a really crappy case. One of the biggest problems with cheap cases is that sometimes, they don't completely adhere to the ATX standard. I.E. putting the PSU mounting holes where they are supposed to be.

You can very easily drill new mounting holes where they are supposed to go (on the rear of the case). I would do that before spending the money on a new case. Don't alter the PS in any way...it's a decent one and you paid good money for it. Fix that case first...it was supposd to have the holes in the correct place to begin with.

you know, I was going by the damn sticker on the psu. I figured it should be right side up so it can be easily read, go figure. heck I was even going to cut a hole from the top of my case for the fan, which I wouldnt of minded doing being that I think its pretty dumb that they have the hot air from the psu going down toward the cpu.

so, yeah turning it around worked just fine. lol

The power supply fan doesn't blow hot air at the cpu. The power supply fans act as exhaust fans, thus drawing air from the case and expelling it outside the case. The only benefit you would have had with cutting the hole in the top for the power supply fan is the ambient air vs the heated case air running thru the power supply.

really, my old psu only had one fan and it was pointed out the back. which doesnt seem like it would of done much in taking heat out of the case. oh well, some are built better then others!!
