Drivin along, minding my own business, when two cars in front of me someone decides to turn...they slow down, the car behind them slows down, and i slow down.
unfortunately, the guy behind me doesn't slow down.
rams right into the back of my car, totalling the rear end of my vehicle (still drives fine but the body is shot now).
anyway, we traded info and all, called and reported it...he was real nice, i told him i wasn't angry, etc, etc.
of course he was driving a big new dodge dakota, didn't even SCRATCH his car. (I drive an MX-6 GT).
as far as me, i'm okay, i *think*, my neck hurts a little, i'm going to see the doc tommorow, he's a friend of our family's anyway.
what do you guys think will happen about my car though? It's an '88, so it's not worth much, but it was in pristine condition-not anymore. Think it will be replaced or repaired or what? Didn't break the rear window, but it is dented in BAD.

If the frame is ok, they may repair it, but if it cost more to repair the car than what it was worth (get the NADA book value and several estimates from the web) it will probably be a total. Don't accept the first offer the insurance co gives you.

Don't worry about your car. Have your neck checked out. Whiplash is very serious and the effects are long-lasting. I got rear-ended in my VW van by a Honolulu bus while stopped at a red light and it took 3 years for me to return to normal (acupuncture saved me from an operation).

I hope the best for you.

Get off the darn laptop and DRIVE!!! :D

Seriously, tho, they probably won't total it since it was a rear-end collision (front end would cost a lot more), unless the NADA value is really low. I'll second ulfwald's advice about not taking the first offer. I totalled my car a couple years ago and they offered me $3200 (it was a '92 Taurus but it had 100k miles). After I showed them a receipt for some repair I had just gotten (new tranny :p), they increased it to 4 grand. If you have gotten any work done lately that has been damaged (muffler, etc) let em know.
