Pulled out in the far lane and hit the front right side of a 2000 Honda Accord with my tire. My car didn't get a scratch on it because my tire hit her i think, and the cop didn't give me a ticket.

My insurance company said it might be easier to just pay out of my pocket instead of insurance because my insurance could double.

So, let me try to draw the damage on her car. Picture

Her headlight did not get busted, so what kinda cost estimates can y'all give me? We're going to the Honda dealership sometime next week.

I don't know how much it will cost, but it will be less than the increase in your insurance if you turn it in.

How much damage to the front bumper? Can they fix it or do they have to replace it?

If it's just a matter of fixing the front bumper, fender, then repainting them both, my guess would be $500... That's the minimal though....

Even if they had to replace the part, it would still come out way cheaper than if you let the insurance cover it.

I think the front bumper only has black marks and a few scratches, not dented...

The front bumper is easy... Taking it off, fixing it then repainting it would cost around $400 I guess...

The front fender though, would be tougher... It's a b!tch to take off, plus they have to fix the dent, probably sand it smooth then paint... plus you have to make sure the color on the fender matches the door etc...

I wouldnt be surprise it costs $800 altogether...

$1300

Gotta get a new headlight, new fender, paint the fender, paint the door and hood to make sure they match, and paint the bumper... :(

Poor accord :(

You must have some big tires to hit all the way up there on her wheel well...

What's your deductible?

I had a little dent on my ford f-150 and they were gonna have to replace entire fender b/c it was not going to bend out. I got estimates from 500-900 just for a fender dent, geez. I would guess $800 for new fender painted and repainted front bumper. If you need a new bumper I guess $1300.

Get many estimates and go with who is the most reputable.

That's bs. They should NOT have to paint the door and the hood to make sure they match the new color, because then THEY won't match the rest of the original color. If the body shop can't match the color of a 2000 accord then they suck. And why the headlight? If it is not damaged then why must it be replaced? You are getting gouged here, this person knows your paying cash out of pocket and you are being taken advantage of for some net profit on the deal.

I work for an Auto Insurance company. Even though he wasn't cited for doing anything wrong, liability would lie on him. His PD coverage on his policy would be what would cover the damages to the other vehicle.

So, although he may not have an at-fault accident on his MVR report (ie driving record) it would show up on his claims history as such.

My inurrance company and the police say that I was traveling at a safe speed, was far enough away from the other car, and am not at fault. But even though the other driver lost control of her car, we'll both be at fault because of the weather unless she admits doing something wrong.

Therefore, I have to use my insurrance ($6300 in damages to my likely totalled car), and my rates will likely go up. :(

Well, I could pay it up, but $1300 is a lot and money is kind of tight right now...

Secondly, the headlight looks FINE, but he looked behind it and said the little things that hold it to the fender or something were broke..

I have been in 3 accidents, none my fault. (0% at fault in every accident) I have no moving violations, and my insurance has never paid out on anything. My insurance went up after each accident, and now stands at a little over $4100 a year for a 99 ram and a 95 zuk.
