I haven't heard anyone talking about batches here at Anandtech..

Let us know how it does for you ..

the only "good" batch would be low(er) voltage.

these SB chips can do 5ghz at 1.5v voltage. a good chip would be doing it at 1.4v voltage

but nope, see lists of CPU+batch #s, but nothing really concrete about whether a batch is better than another

Every processor is different. A batch # *may* tell you some things, but it is far from a consistent indicator.

How many students are in a graduating class? Each class has a different average based on a lot of factors, but how that correlates to individual students is loose at best.

Do you mean if its a different stepping?

I think that can correlate with improved performance characteristics.

+1

And trust me, ive seen it happen.
When i was binning cpu's the batch numbers would be off by 1 or 2 at most.
Well, if batch number told us anything then by rule, it should oc the same and act the same.

Well one was a voltage leaky SOB, and the other was a super cherry.
Do i need to say anymore?

no batch number and stepping are different.
Stepping is the actually die, batch number is the number associated with the cpu when it was cut from the larger piece of silicon.
