I was psyched to get my HD service (cablecard) from Comcast, but I dont get any channels appearing on the TV, not even the non hi-def channels. I'm guessing the cablecard blocks any signals coming out of the tivo? I heard that tivo is going to come out with a high def box next year, so I guess I'm out of luck watching HD channels through tivo till then. I have the Panasonic PT-44LCX65 with built in HD tuner.

Panasonic 44"

Comcast offers their own DVR, but it's also the cable box. I don't know how it would work with a cablecard.

FTW. I had that DVR, until I cancelled the service to save money. It worked very well, and I was able to stream HD content to my PC via the firewire connection.

If you stream from the HD DVR to your PC via FireWire, it's that easy? Any protection crap or anything?

when I was doing it, there wasn't any copy protection. There probably is now, but I have no idea, I cancelled the service in march of this year.

FAQ I used to get it working.

Rumor has it that the Comcast boxes will be getting TiVo software next year. TiVo is the best, but Comcast isn't that far behind, and it's ahead in many ways. I got one, and the dual tuner functionality is excellent! Not to mention the HD.

Your TiVo should still be able to record in ED (extended definition) but HD is the way to go.

That would be great if the rumor holds true.
