Hey someone lent me their ps3 so I just bought GOW 3 to beat it. I played it for about 40 min and it's been sort of lackluster imho. Amazing gfx..gameplay is good but nothing standout or exceptional and I found myself more motivated to go back to playing Batman Arkham Asylum. I haven't really played the first 2 Gows so my question is that does it ramp up and maybe it just has a slow start? Just want some input! Thanks!
Just got GOW 3 is it overrated? Not really getting into it...

From what I've seen the GFX are badass but I know I can't get into that game, the same with uncharted, sweet GFX but the actual gameplay isn't my cup of tea

So much wrong with this I won't even bother. You need to cut down on whatever substance you're currently abusing.
Anyway, to the OP. I thought GoW3 was fantastic, and the beginning couple hours is some of the most epic video gaming I've played in a long time. Bouncing around the titans was pretty awesome, but then the entire underworld area up to and including the fight with Hades was phenomenal. Now this COULD just have been shock from the jump in quality from GoW2, because I had just finished that before GoW3, but I think it was just that good for me.
I don't think it'll ring true with everybody, but IMO if you aren't getting into it now I don't think it'll help. However I also think AA is a great game too. You may just want to play that one so much that you can't justify GoW3 right now. I say beat AA first and then start GoW again.

Well, there is a continuous story...
So if you care anything about story, then yes.
I bought GOW 1+2 in that multipack with the somewhat updated graphics and played it before hand. It does help quite a bit. I thought 3 was the easiest by far, there really aren't as many puzzles if memory serves.

I really enjoyed how over the top this whole series can be, especially the third one. Have you played the previous games? If you haven't then you're shooting your self in the foot here. It's like starting the Star Wars saga by watching Return of the Jedi first.
Also, wait until you get to the Guitar Hero part.

GoW 3 is awesome. I've played all 3, and I'd rank GoW 1 and GoW 3 very close, with GoW 2 being behind those two.

...just to provide some contrast, I enjoyed the games in a different order. It goes GoW2> GoW3> GoW1.
Keep on it. You can't do much when you first start off but your abilities only keep growing until you are one bad ass god. The boss fights are epic. Just seeing this thread make me want to go back and replay the whole game.

I really enjoyed GoW III and think it's right up there if not better than the first two, which is saying a lot because the first two were also great. It's a really fantastic series.
The visuals are epic indeed. They took no shortcuts making this game. Amazing Graphics. Also some of the best voice acting ever done for a game. Rip torn especially - I had heard this one was short but I found it to be very long actually, it kept going and going. The story is kind of hard to follow, most of it continues from the previous games which seem like I played so long ago and remember very little of the plot contents.
You can't come up with many negatives for this game.
I'm trying to do the 'challenges' now. F those are tough.

I'm not a big fan either. I tried to like the series, I had the PSP version and I played the GoW3 demo, but I have never been able to get into button mashers.
The gameplay becomes so stale and repetitive after a while, even though GoW3 tries to cover this up with different elements/weapons for different enemies, but in the end you're still pounding out the same combos. I think it's why I hate fighting games, also: too much emphasis on memorizing button combos then repeating them over and over again.
